No Weddings, 2 Funerals, 1 Day & a whole heap of Messages (Most people think #8 is ‘the thing’…)

I spent my 46th birthday at my elderly uncle’s funeral. I know to some that sounds really morbid. My son Reuben was completely aghast at the thought. If that wasn’t bad enough, I spent the day after my birthday at another funeral, this time of a friend who died at the relatively young age of 50. As you can imagine, being at a funeral is always a great time for reflection. Even more so, when it’s also your birthday. I deliberately didn’t respond to the hundreds of messages I got via Facebook (1 friend told me off because she couldn’t…

Are you using your Superpowers?

Are you using your Superpowers?

Just recently I’ve been doing quite a lot of networking and going to conferences where I’m meeting some really inspirational people. They are passionate about helping people and making a change in the world. However, I’ve noticed that when I ask them what they do and who for they tell me that they can do so many things. They are aware that they must “niche” but not sure what to focus on, as they don’t want to leave out any of their abilities because they love using them. My response to this is: “How would it be for you to use all of your “superpowers” –…

8+8+8

8+8+8

Everyone has 24hrs every day. That includes you, your boss, the slothlike guy in your team, and your nemesis, the charismatic achieving machine. 8 hours for sleep… 8 hours for work… 8 hours for ??? Even before Branson, Lord Sugar, Oprah, Musk, Zuckerberg, Arianna and Sandberg made their millions (or billions) – they had 24hr days just like me & you. They still do. I hate to break it to you but you do not get the ass you want by sitting on it. If you want more, then you will have to do more & be more than who you are being…

The Art of Being Stark Raving M.A.D.

The Art of Being Stark Raving M.A.D.

Life is sometimes crazy! Family. Business. Friends. Church. Sports. Hobbies. All vying for a chunk of our time. Unrelenting. Undeniable. Unceasing. I’m sure there are times you ask yourself….How do I deal with life’s never-ending demands? How do I keep focus with all the distractions around? How do I make all of this make sense?  As I thought about this, I started thinking about my poster days! Days where everything seems to be going right. It all seemingly falls into place, works itself out and at the end of the day, I have a huge sense of satisfaction. I’ve made meaningful connections….

5 Reasons Why You Should Stop being Realistic!

5 Reasons Why You Should Stop being Realistic!

So I don’t know about you, but I know about me and one thing is for sure. I’m a dreamer. I’ve never ever considered my dreams too big and I’ve always been confident in myself that I would reach them. There are still so many dreams that circle around in my head, yet to be achieved but that’s ok. Success is a journey and I am happy in the knowing that every day I take small consistent steps to making all my dreams come true. One thing I have learnt over the past few years, though is that not everybody is as comfortable…

How we taught our 13 year old daughter to become an entrepreneur

How we taught our 13 year old daughter to become an entrepreneur

Leah, our daughter is an extremely talented writer. Yup, I’m her Dad so I’m a lil biased as you would imagine. But, seriously,  she really is a great writer! Recently, she decided she wanted to go to a summer event with the young people from our church. It would cost £150 and she wanted to pay for her friend as well. Her request? ‘Dad, can I have £300 for the trip please? I really want to go!’   Step 1….Start with a Purpose She had the first requirement to become an entrepreneur. A reason. A desire. A purpose! Without that it would have been…

All things are possible?

All things are possible?

Have you heard the story about the two shoe salesmen who were sent from the United Kingdom to Africa in the 1900’s in search of opportunities. Well, they set off in search of opportunities in the new world and upon arriving at their destination both men sent messages back to their companies. One sent a telegram back saying ‘Situation hopeless they don’t wear shoes here!’ The other salesman in total contrast sent a message back saying ‘Glorious opportunity they don’t wear shoes here!’ These two salesmen saw the same landscape but perceived totally different and contrasting horizon! The immediate question I…
